You know what our biggest challenge is when it comes to executing? OVERTHINKING. It is Analysis Paralysis.
Nike says JUST DO IT. Nike does NOT say “Think up 20 possible scenarios and choose the best one.” NO, just do it. Do the work.
We complicate simple execution with minefield of thought and become so exhausted and overwhelmed we instead DO NOTHING.
“She who suffers BEFORE it’s necessary, suffers MORE than necessary.”
Hopefully reading this post DISRUPTS this cycle long enough to think a NEW thought and that thought is “Today, I will do the work. Today, I will do just ONE thing. Today, I will take just ONE step toward my goal in mind.”
Our human condition is such that we want to do ALL the things and we want it all NOW! Imagine if before you laid all the meals you were to eat for the rest of your life and you were told “EAT THEM ALL”. Absurd, isn’t it? IMPOSSIBLE, is it not?
This conundrum is precisely what we do when we think about our hopes, dreams, and goals. We think of everything we want to do and be in our lifetime and become SICK with overwhelm because we think we should be more and do more than we already are - so instead we do nothing.
Now the goal isn’t perfection. It’s PROGRESS. STOP THINKING ABOUT IT and just do. Like our dear friend @realsheilabella says “Do it messy, do it scared...” but for goodness sakes just do the work.
